Stronger 2-4 servo return spring?
I have an 89 2.8L Firebird, and I'm currently working on rebuilding a 700R4 that was in an 87 camaro 3.4L.
I'm toying with the idea of getting the pro-built vette servo kit - vette servo, .500 boost valve and bushing - seals, int/reverse valve, TG HD pressure regulator spring.
Someone had mentioned using a stronger 2-4 servo return spring, specifically use the one from the intermediate servo on a th400. Has anyone else done something like this?
Any other alternative parts to use? I can only find a "front servo" on the TH400, and I'm not familiar with that one. I see the idea, quicker retraction from band application.
The whole idea of that is to increase the reliablility and lifetime of my rebuild. I'm looking to carry this transmission past 2010 in whatever f-body I happen to be driving. I figure with the increased pressure at the band it would allow to engage faster and firmer with less slipping, and to reduce the amount of time after the band is applied, into the next gear, should reduce friction and the amount of heat generated, thus increasing lifespan.
