Anybody have any idea how long a T5 might hold up behind a mild (headers, cold air intake, reflash, maybe cam) LT1? I realize it's a loaded question, just looking for been there done that stories and how succesful they were. She won't really beat the car but I will on occasion... he he....

I've had my car from the day I bought it off the dealers list (yes I'm that old) and it came with a 305 t-5 3.23 rear. 200,00 kilometers later it now has a zz4 crate motor and 3.73's in the *** with 17" z-r1 rims entirely new interior and newly done front and rear seats. Yes the only thing that is original is the tranny
I have gone through 3 clutch packs, treat the tranny right and you might get some more miles out of her. No I dont drive ms. Daisy around but I'm also not John Force off the line either, If I do decide to race some *** hat I'll roll off the line easy I/2 way through the intersection then Stomp on it. I do leave 11's on the road but I dont sidestep my clutch. Like I told my wife I'll treat you like a lady,but at times I expect you to act like a *****" same applies for your car.

i have a scott shafiroff 434sbc that makes 576hp and 582lb-ft of torque which is backed by my stock T-5 with about 85,000 miles on it. ive had this set up for a year now. i dont beat the living **** out of it but i do drive it hard. the car never hooks good so i should be alright. but i fear the day that i do hook real good. 

How hard are you guys shifting? I'm guessing definitely no powershifting but do you granny shift or are they holding up to a light beating?

mine holds up to some to decently hard shifting. i want it to last as long as it can so i know my limitations.

whoa that is alot of Torque on a NWC that is pretty impressive. I was scared of doing some engine work to my 350 b.c of my tranny, dont worry i wont be hooking up either...

Some like mine seem to hold up fine others seem to blowup quick... still waiting for mine to go but after 21yrs I am not holding my breath

Without traction it will live a lot longer. Traction is what will kill a T5, or a 7.5" 10-bolt. If the tires jsut go up in smoke you never load anything enough to break it, the torque just runs right through and you never shear load antyhing.
With traction and/or powershifting it will go away eventually. Either 2nd or 3rd gear will spit teeth like a 98lb. hockey player.
If you want traction and power you can step up to G-Force internals and the trans will live a long happy life behind a very serious engine. Guys are running 9 second ETs with these setups. That's 600+ HP and 500+ lbs/ft anyway you slice it.
How long will it live? Depends. My couisn and I backed a 350 chevy with the stock Peugot built 5-speed designed for a 4-banger in his Jeep Wrangler when we did the swap. Advanced Adapters didn't even want to sell us the plate to get it to bolt up. He beat the living snot out of it daily for over a year (the rear u-joint in the rear driveshaft let loose at about 110 MPH when he powershifted 5th gear one time, but the trans lived). Then, the guy who bought it ran it like that for another 3 years before it finally broke and he swapped in a TH350.
The moral of the story is that drivetrain part life isn't an absolute. It may live, it may not. Don't be suprised if it breaks, but don't be afraid to run it if you can afford to replace it if/when it does.

Well, when they are available you can get them directly from G-Force on one of their dealers, of which I am one. You're going to pay the same regardless of where you get them, because G-Force has a very strict noncomete deal with all the people who deal their parts.
The problem is that recently G-Force has been sort of slack in making product runs in a timely fashion. The last time I did a G-Force trans I had to wait a couple months to get the kit. I'm not sure if the situation has improved. The wait is another price you have to pay if you want the best.
