700r4 mods

I've got a '88 iroc with the stock L98 and 700r4. The only mods that I have done so far are a new cat, flowmaster exhaust and hooker headers. I plan to install some AFR 180cc cylinder heads and a tpis zz9 camshaft. I am also going to install some intake runners and a new manifold. Hopefully this should make about 350hp and well over 400ft/lb. Most of the driving that I do is on the street and I ocassionally take the car to the track. What kind of tranny mods should I make? I don't want a rock hard shift like a B&M tranny but I want something that won't slip behind the motor that I've got planned.

I did a "shift kit" search before I made my decision on what trany mods I would make and I see that in general people don't like B&M kits and I have also seen many people who have installed the transgo kits tear their hair out because the transmission no longer works properly. So figured less sometimes is more so I installed a corvette servo , a .471 boost valve , a sonnax elavated presure throttle valve spring along with a superior 3-4 W.O.T. upshift throttle valve sleeve. 1-2 shift very positive but not offensive 2-3 is much quicker and overall the transmission feels more hooked up. I have'nt had a chance to try out the W.O.T. upshift sleeve yet , I'll let you know.

Agreed. Some shift kits are more trouble than they are worth. I would definately step back and look at how much you want to spend on this trans before it is time to tear it down and then do some real upgrading. I would at least go with the boost valve and upgraded trans cooler. Check out Technical Video - Rebuild Your Transmission, Differential, Transfer Case</title>

...Superior shift kit, billet servos. Thats about the best you can do before taking it out and upgrading the internals. Plus, even if down the road you do take it out and upgrade these will still be parts that you want on it.
