Torque Converter is making noises
Last fall I had a brand new transmission put in (4L60E), and ever since it has made a ticking/tinging noise. Until now it sounded like the exhaust was banging on the floor, but it has plenty of room. Now it changed pitches of noise to a higher pitched ting/ping. I lifted the car up and checked out the converter. It is tight to the flexplate, and everything is tightened down. While runningm, though, you can hear a tinging noise that climbs with the RPMs, and it sounds like it is coming from the inside of the TC. I tapped on the TC with some metal on the outside housing and it makes the same noise as it does while running. Does anyone know what happened to my TC, and if I will need a new one???

yeah anytime you get a new trans, you should look into a new convertor and not reuse a stock unit.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought. Do you recommend getting it replaced ASAP, or should it be safe for a while? I've already put 3k miles on it with this noise.
