throw out bearing replacement

How do you get it on there? The fork won't slide back to get it around the collar? It looks like the fork pivots on something, but I can't get to it...?
any ideas?

nobody ? I've been searching for a while now, and i'm now going to make sure to clip the fork ears into the groove of the TO bearing correctly, however, how do I get the fork to slide outwards?

Motor is out of the car, tranny is sitting in place with fork not connected to pedal right now. I can remove the grommet around the fork, and get the fork to slip on it's pivot point inwards and outwards a little bit, but not enough out to get the TO bearing in.... What's the secret??

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
The fork has a sort of 2-fingered clip that holds it on the pivot ball. It's fastened with a rivet, between the ball and the throwout bearing end. The clip thing will prevent it from sliding outwards. To get it off the ball, it has to slide toward the throwout... inwards. But if the trans is still attached to the BH, it can't.

The trans and BH must be separated.

oooohhhh ok. That explains why no one else seemed to have this problem, everyone else had the motor in, and just removed the trans. So can I leave the tranny connected to the TA, and shifter in place in the car, and just remove the bellhousing via the 4 giant torx bolts or whatever they are?

thanks

Yup, absolutely.

The 4 bolts are Torx, and also 15mm.

You'll see exactly what the deal is when you get there.

got 'er done, actually, torx and 19mm. Now I understand what they meant by "install the bearing to the fork".... Easy as pie.

Thanks again sofa
