auto tranny fluid change problem

I just changed the transmission fluid and i've been trying to get the fluid filled right. its reading at cold when its warmed up and when i cut it off its been reading above hot. before i changed the fluid it was overfilled and im thinking maybe the vent is clogged and the torque converter has air in it or something? i need input please also the transmission core in the radiator had popped earlier in the week and the tranny was almost bone dry

When you do a pan gasket and filter change it should take about four qts,and check with car running in park and let it warm up.

thanks for the post... i put a 15 oz additive (k&m trans-x) in the tranny and about 3 5/8's quarts of transmission fluid in it. i checked it while running in park after i drove it around and after it warmed up before i drove it and a cupple times after it cooled and it still read at cold and i had to fill it up that high risking overfilling it... could the torque converter be going bad?

found out today its supposed to dump the transmission fluid back into the pan after you cut your engine and the level read while its in nutral or park is the right reading... just needed more fluid than 5.9 pints
