3rd gen rotors on 4th gen rear

ok i have a problem i just bought i new 4th gen rear from a 02 camaro but i have 15" rims on my car now. i know that with these rims the brakes wont fit under the rim. my question is can i (temporarily) use my rotors from my thirdgen rear or calipers. i just need to get this thing on becuz the old diff is grinding.

We installed a 4th Gen rear on our '92 Z28 and the 3rd Gen rotors and PBR calipers fit fine. The 16-inch 3rd Gen wheels are just about even with the fender lip, a much more aggressive appearance.

If it is an '02 rear, then the 3rd gen rotors will not fit. The LS1 cars use a drum style parking brake assembly inside the brake rotor. The bolt spacing is the same, but the parking brake mechanism and backing plate would stop the rotor from sliding on. If you've got LT1 PBR style brakes it's a different story.

no e brake

so you stated that the ls1 rotors use a drum set up as a e brake. could i remove that set up until i have the rims to fit the new rear? i know it's a crazy idea but this car is my daily driver so i need it soon enough. also i dont ever use the e brake now so this wouldnt effect my parking or anything. just would this be a possible option or not.

no, because the "drum" that the parking brake linings run on is made into the rotor. Not to mention the backing plates are different to make room for the parking brake assembly.
