TV cable differences

I did a search but couldn't find anything on this. Is a TV cable a TV cable and the only differences are length? Or is there something else that makes them special? Like could a put a TV cable from a TPI car onto a TBI car, or a V-6 car, or use a S10 TV cable?

Thanks!
Douglas

There are different cables I read on here - different for carb, TBI, and TPI - might want to verify with someone more in the know.

I'd be interested in knowing this as well. I tried to use my TBI TV cable on my Holley SA 670 with the Holley bracket but the TV cable was too long. I wondered if it had just been stretched out over the years or if was designed to be a little longer than the TV cables on the carbed third gens.

I just ordered a throttle cable and TV cable from GM. I specified the cable for an '86 LG4 (carbed) in each case and I'm hoping that they will be the right length to work with the non-adjustable holley throttle brackets.
