Is this a Torque Converter problem?
We just finished rebuilding my 700r4 and got it into the car the other day and ran it about 10 miles and it ran and shifted good other than a little shudder from the torque converter if you left a stop sign in (OD). If you run it in (D) and shift to (OD) when you get out on the open road its fine. This morning though when I took my sister and brother to school(about a 8 mile round trip through about 7 stop signs and acouple straight a ways) I drop my brother off last and was ready to head back to the house. I then pulled up to a stop sign and put the car in (1) position cause I was gonna manuel shift to check and make sure all the gears were working correctly and when I came to a stop the car started to shake alittle(I shifted to 1st after I stopped). I had traffic behind me so I had no choice but to just shift into (D) and go ,and the car seem to not be going to well its was moving, it just seem to be slipping alittle. I then shifted it up into (OD) and the car ran fine until I got to the very last stop sign from my house and it did the exact same thing but this time I was in (D) not in (1st) and I had to shift it back up into (OD) to get it to run right. When I got it home I could hear a slight noise from around the TC area.
Later this afternoon I went back out side to check the tranny fluide to make sure it was full and looked ok........it was full and looked good and didn't smell burnt. I let it run for about 10 minutes then you could feel a slight shaking(hardly noticeable). Then not wanting to drive the car I just put it into (R) and backed up alittle and then into (D) and moved forward alittle. After that there was a huming type noise coming from the TC area and it would stop only if I put the car into (R) any other gear even (P) would keep making that huming noise. I don't want to mess with anything so I just shut it down and came inside. It seem to me something is having problem when it gets warmed up.......not exactly the TC but something.
With my dad working at 911 during the night there is really noway for him to work or check on the car during the days he works so I figured I would post to see if anyone had an idea on what was going on.
This really turned what I thought was gonna be a good day off work into a really really crappy one. Last night was the first time I got to enjoy it since it messed the tranny up christmas eve, but I guess we'll just keep working on it.
