9 bolt axle will not come out

I am replacing the 9-bolt with a 10-bolt and the drivers side axle on the 9-bolt will not come out. I removed the passengers side a few months ago with little effort. I used the pull and plead method followed buy the BFH and invented words and it will not move. If bent a tad will it be hard to remove and how do I entice it out? I need the backing plates off.
Suggestions? I have no armour piercing rounds.

I had the same problem with my passenger side, it was stuck. I eventually took the sledge to it and that didn't get it. What finnally got it was using a car jack, like the original and using it like a press with a plate between the backing plate and the hub. It pressed out fairly easily, you could probably use a hydralic press but I used what I had.

Thanks for the ideas. I don't think the slide hammer I have is big enough but I do have a jack and will try that later when released from household chores.

Jack did the trick. Turned the rotor backwards, put a pad between jack and rotor and probable less than one turn on the jack screw and it was out. Probable bent as it does not want to go back in place. (headed for scrap so no problem there.)
