Clutch selection time...
I recently picked up a T-5 for my camaro.... i needa know what would be the best choice of clutch for me.
this is gunna be my first manual trans car and i want to do it right, im afraid with vehicle weight and my HP and Tq levels im burn a stock one up but you tell me
with my mods(see bottom) i should be at 350hp 400ftlbs at the crank(best estimate and dynosim) @ 3400lbs my car is no light weight
i plan on street/strip and i drive her hard all the time

I've been eyeballing the Ram multi-friction unit with the kevlar/organic disc for my T5 setup. I run a Ram powergrip in my 69 camaro and it works beautiful. I've read posts from other board members saying they don't like the feel of the centerforce dual friction units, so you might want to stay away from those. The Ram units costs about $225. If that's a little steep for your budget, Zoom has a performance clutch for around $190 IIRC. Of course these are prices from Summit racing I'm quoting. Don't believe their box when it says "guaranteed lowest prices". Lol, what a load of B.S.

I had put the Ram multi disc in a customers car a year or so ago and it's holding up well behind a WC T5. The engine dyno'd 520hp. The Centerforce DF units hold up well but have a stock feel to the clutch which is how they were designed. Instead of pressure plate tension that makes the clutch hold better and gives the pedal a firmer feel, they use the centrifugal weights to increase the pressure with RPM. So it holds real well but the clutch feels stock.

i know zoom has a ZVC variable clutch that uses inertia weights to increase clamping force while keeping a stock or "easy" feel to it.... seems nice but as long as its not like im driving a farm tractor i dont care
