I think I fried my tranny, help
I have a 1995 4L60E mated to a 383 LT1 in my 91 RS. I have a 3300 RPM stall Edge converter (lockup).
I have been driving it for a little while without problems. Day before yesterday I noticed some vibration in the car, at any speed and any RPM. I thought it was a tire or suspension (car is severely in need of an alignment).
I took the car to the strip last night and my ET was at least 3 to 5 thenths slower than it should have been. I go to drive home and to get more than 10 mph out of first gear, I have to be at around 3000 RPM (not the way it was when I drove it there. I also noticed that the converter took a very long time to lockup on the highway. It eventually did after about a mile or two (usually is immediate).
I guess long story short, first gear seems half gone, I have an unusual vibration, and now my converter doesnt want to lockup in overdrive. Is my tranny shot, is my converter shot, both?
I am hoping that some knowledgable tranny people would be able to give me some helpful input.
Thanks in advance.

It is hard to say. If you feel the vibration at idle, you could try to disconnect the torque converter and slide it back towards the rear of the car. Then you can let it idle again and see if vibe goes away. If it does, I would suspect a converter problem first. Start there.

Axle/Gears: 10bolt 3.23's I think

Good advise but if the vibration doesn't go away don't assume the converter is not the problem. I would strongly recommend checking for metal in the trans pan as a safety precaution. If the problem doesn't change with the converter disconnect and there is no metal in the trans pan I would recommend a fluid exchange ( as long as the trans has had regular service )

Do you think that the fluid exchange might fix the slipping first gear as well? (I am planning on pulling the tranny next week).

It's not likely to fix the slipping gear unless you have a sticking solenoid or valve in the trans but it is possible.. as I said don't flush it if it doesn't have a regular fluid exchange history unless you are prepared to do a full rebuild ( which you may be looking at anyhow ).
