Posi worn out?
My main question is: Is it possible for a posi unit to wear out, and treat the axle like an open diff?
I am starting to suspect that this may be happening.
It all started back at Atco about 3 months ago, when I was getting no traction off the line (but I used to get good traction on the street), and I found out from a friend that only ONE tire was spinning while doing my burnout.
Well, I got home and did a few quick burnouts on my street and left two marks, but from time to time (like today), there will only be one single rubber mark. Now, I did try to kick this one out sideways, but I Started off straight, but there is no sign that the other wheel was spinning.
Now, it came to my attention from a friend that I have a small leak thanks to a bad axle seal on my left axle. Very slow. When I did my gear oil swap, I still found that there was a good deal of oil left in that carrier so it's an extremely slow leak. I was holding off on a fix until I got back home for the summer from college, but would something like that compromise the functioning of my rear? (yes, I did put in Posi additive)
I'm still unsure of the workings of a posi, so I don't know if this behavior is normal, but I'd rather not have to invest in a new rear if this isn't normal
Any help is appreciated guys, thank you =)

Sounds like your posi has croked. How many miles are on it? The only time a posi does not function is around a corner.

However, I roasted them again today, even got a bit sideways, to get a burnout picture and there were two nice even black bold lines...wtf? It's like it's working selectively or something?

just because you can fry both tires doesnt mean your Posi is working. back before I had a posi i could always fry both tires if i was on level ground, I could even slide around courners in both directions if i hit it just right. I swapped in a zexel torsen diff from an LS1 car for the very reason you started this post. my posi will never wear out like a clutch type one will.
