Will this T-56 swap work?

Hi all,

I need to bow to the transmission gods on TGO for a few minutes here. I have a couple of quick questions.

I have an opportunity to buy a T-56 six speed manual tranny out of a 2002 Z28 for $1500. The tranny has about 30k miles on it, and was driven before the car was parted out. The seller says that it worked when he drove it, and I trust that he's being honest with me.

1) Is $1500 too much for this setup? I already have the pedal box from the car, so I would be getting the tranny, cylinders and lines for that price.

2) Will there be any problem retrofitting a 2002 T-56 to a small block chevy? Right now I have the L03 305ci motor in my 1992, but I will be upgrading to a carbed 383 very soon. I just need to know if the swap is do-able or not...

Thanks guys, any help is GREATLY appreciated!

i think the bellhousings on the ls1 wont fit, and the input shaft is different.

Interesting, so a 98-02 t56 cannot be adapted to a small block?

Are there any pros out there with thoughts on this $1500 opportunity?

$1500 is to much for a trans that won't fit without more parts. you can get an LT1 T56 for that price easy enough, and it's a near direct bolt in.
