Gears vs rpm and mph
What rpms should an L98 car turn at 85 mph with 2.77's,3.27's,3.45's, and 3.70's? Does this chart look about right? Thanks
2.77- 85 mph @2400
3.27-85 mph @2600
3.45 85 mph @2800
3.73 85 mph @3000
2.77- 85 mph @2400
3.27-85 mph @2600
3.45 85 mph @2800
3.73 85 mph @3000

Car: 1981 Camaro; 1986 Z28
Engine: LT1; LT1
Transmission: 6 speed; 6 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.73; 3.42
To answer your question, yes those look "fairly" accurate. You also have to consider tire/wheel size, actual gearing in rear, and torque convertor specs.

go to the TGO home page and click on "Equations". Plug your numbers in and you'll have the answers you need. Just remember that rpm vs speed by any calculation is only accurate for clutch cars, or with a locked converter.
