Whats up guys, this is my first post here, I have a 92 firebird convertible that I recently bought it had a cracked Flex plate, and I replaced it and not even 10k miles and its cracked again, and my front pump seal is leaking any body have any suggestions as to what could be the problem? I apreciate any help. I was told my converter could be out of balance.

 

Are you sure that you got the tranny bolted to the engine with a tight fit everywhere. If they don't get perfectly aligned the flex plate will have to take that movement with every engine revolution.

 

Im sure the its tight, but Im gona pull the trans this weekend so I will find out. Thanks for the tip.

 

you need to make sure that its tight to the engine case a frind of mine had some (all) of his bellhousing bolts start to walk out on him in his truck and the damned thing ripped the entire center of the flexplate off from the outside

 

What did your cracked flexplate sound like? My car is making a tinging/pinging rattling noise when accelerating, and I'm hoping it isn't the flexplate.

it goes away, or is not as bad under acceleration or in gear unless its really bad, on my car its alot more noticable at idle, it sounds like detonation or pre ignition whats going on with your car, you should check your EGR valve and timming.
