Look for the G80 RPO code located in the glove box for the s-10 pickup/blazer and s15 Jimmy and in the center club box or rear glove box of 3rd gen.

Rpos are only good to know what it came out of the factory with 20 years ago...
An easy way is if the back tires are off the ground, spin one and if the other spins the same way its a posi or a really pootched open. *but* it could also spin opposite ways and just be a burnt up posi, but most likely in that case its an open.
Best way, and its so easy to do is to pull the cover!

a posi and limited slip are the same thing.
do you mean an open, compared to a posi? Someone should really post a view inside a diff, of an open and posi. It's a pretty obvious difference....If you know what you're looking for.

pull the cover and look. Plus, count teeth and figure out the gear ratio. That way you don't end up with a 2-series posi....
