swapping the 700r-4 for a t-56??
I'm strongly entertaining the thought, my uncle in N.Y has a really good connection and he can get one of the seriously built rockland units(1100ft lbs rating) for $3000 shipped. I'm stick man at heart....my Z28 is the first auto trans car i've own over my 12 years of driving. So t-56 or no?

Looks to me like you've already made up your mind, and you just want some validation.
If you want a stick, the T-56 is one of the better ways to go.
Expect to spend between $500-1000 to put that into your car, especially if you want to do any of the more sensible upgrades along the way; better clutch, torque arm, speedo conversion, etc.
