Engine: 383 HSR EBL
Transmission: 700R4 - Stage 3 Fixed Pressure
Axle/Gears: GM 3.08 POSI
tranny shifting funny
when im cruising on the highway 70+ and i give it some gas to pas or change lanes or whatever the car shifts from 4th to second(instead of 4-3) and revs somewhere in the neighborhood of 5500-6500 rpm before shifting into 3rd which i dont like. just wondering what could be causing this. i mean i dont want to blow the engine or tranny by redlining or anything.

no just by the tach, the sound of the engine and the absolute lack of power at that rpm.

Could be the TV cable is misadjusted, or low fluid. I'd start there. Otherwise maybe there is a problem with the governor?

Did you ever find out what was causing this problem? I'm having the same trouble and it started all of a sudden.
