I am doing an LS1 conversion on my 89 TA and opened up the 9 bolt rear to install a solid pinion bearing spacer. I had the pleasure of finding this:

Now, it's time to decide if I want to go with a new ring/pinion (posi is pretty worn too), get another used thirdgen or fourthgen rear (i have 4thgen wheels now) or just go to 9"/12 bolt.

Man, this is just a perfect example of Murphy's law at work. Glad I took a close look, last thing i needed is for those teeth to break off on me and potentially endanger me and those around me.
