transmissin mount shim question?

from what i understand theres a snafu with the poly mounts by energy suspensions concerning different cross members, and whether or not to use the shim. I have an 86 iroc with a 7r4. to shim, or not to shim?

Use the shim if you need to correct the pinion angle.

There have been instances where the shim has caused mysterious vibrations. Typically I leave them out, unless the car has been lowered, and then sometimes you need the shim to correct the tailshaft angle to get the u-joint operating angles into line, as mentioned.
