World Class Vs. Non-World Class T5

All right guys, I need this question answered quickly. My current T5 went to S*** and is quoted at $1500 for a rebuild. The guy who previously rebuilt the tranny before I owned the car F'ed up and put in a sealed bearing in the tranny where a sealed bearing isn't supposed to be. This caused a clogging in the oil passages and over time ruined things. So input/output shaft need replacing, reverse gear and reverse slider need replacing amongs other things.

So I figure my best plan of action is to find a "new" T5 from a junk yard or craigslist or whatnot to rebuild for cheaper or that might just work fine and put that in.

So my question is, what is the difference between the NWO and WO T-5's? And is one really that much stronger then the other? Also, how do I tell them apart physically from the outside?

Thank you, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

- Chris

From what I have read (I'm not a trans expert by any means) the WC T-5 is stronger but they both have the same weak link... the case. The case will stretch and torque pulling the gears out of alignment if you plan on abusing it. If you drive it like its your car and you want it to last for a bit it will. Same thing with the nwc on that matter. If you dont abuse it it will last. If you plan on driving the crap out of it like most do I would recommend a TKO or a t-56 swap instead. Or go with a automatic swap so you can really put some power to the pavement.

Junk the T-5, and go 350 auto. You'll be glad you did.

until you get tired of pulling up to the pump....
- a T350 would be fine for a low speed town cruiser or race built, otherwise there's much better.
