howdy there

this is a very generic question, we could be here all year listing every thing that can and will up to a sbc engine,,,

most all GM transmission models were made in both 60 and 90 degree versions, separately- not combined-

there were none that fit both degrees,

however there were some that would fit not only chevy pattern but also had four extra holes so that they would fit caddy pontiac buick and oldsmobile 90 engines too, *of the same degrees*

any tranny that is 90 degree bellhousing and the correct spline for your clutch disc will bolt up

v8 are 90 degree and 4.3L and straight six engines too

chevy pattern

Engine Swaps
scroll down

"Chevy small block 90 degree engines include 200, 229, 4.3 in V6. V8's that share many parts with the V6 engines are 262, 265, 267, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, and 400. Stroker and destroked motors made using these base engines are 301, 383, 388, and on up to about 427 cid.

Chevy big block 90 degree engines include 366 tall deck, 396 and 402 short deck, 427 short and tall deck versions, and 454 short and tall deck versions. 502's are available and will swap with the other big block engines. Bigblock and small block engines share the same bellhousing pattern which means, for example, that if a 229 V6 came out, A 454 "Rat" Chevy engine will "bolt up" to the transmission. None of these 90 degree engines fit in a front wheel drive car."

you have much to learn

and once you learn then you will always know,
it is easy to visually psot a 60 degree bellhousing from a 90 degree, the 60 degree sides are way steeper than 90 degree sides, and the 60 degree tops are wider across than the 90 degree, or are totally flat anyways, unlike 90 degree(talking about just the casting shape, not the bolt hole locations- the top two that is)

good luck

manual trans bolting up to a motor? Auto yes, 60 and 90 degree is all that really counts for generic "bolt up", but for a manual trans, it all depends on what bellhousing you use. Hell, I've run a chrysler 18-spline "crash box" in a 427 bbc Camaro.
- some trans are direct bolt-up for our factory bell, many aren't. Many can be made to bolt on via an adapter, some no adapter is available for "bolt up". Most can be made to fit, but that all depends on either your knowledge and abilities, or you check book balance.

Search!

Its been done here a million times.

The 4l60e is in short a 700R4 controlled by computer. this swap requires you to hack up a newer computer to run the tranny or get a stand-alone computer for it.

T56 has to be one of the most common manny swaps here...

Re: what trannys bolt up?

the straight drive transmission doesn't bolt to the motor, it bolts to a bell housing
