th350 is direct if you go with a truck one 9" tail
th400 shorty you need a 200c shaft
700r4 can be from anything 2 wheel drive and 4.3L v6 or straight six or v-8 chevy only
astro vans, s-10s, caprices, etc.
but not corvette
and some caprices in the early 90s had a wierd length 700r4 too, but you probably wont run into one
the person who said it has ot be f body only because of the tailshaft housing is smoking on something funny, all you have to do is swap the housing for your f body one
duh.

T350 or T400 swap require an aftermarket non-tailshaft mounted tq arm, or a special mount to bolt the tq arm onto. - With the proper length T350, you can re-use your ds, all other will require a new or re-worked ds. You'll also have to modify or change you shifter. You'll be loosing the lower 1st gear and also OD, so if you need mpg, stick with the 700r.
- as stated, trucks, vans, 4.3 S10's have interchangeable trans, but will require your tailshaft housing. Also(as stated) most have differently calibrated vb's, so you may loose some performance....

So I could install a 700r4 from a chevy c1500 truck? How hard is it to swap out the tailshafts? Also, what is the truck version's gear ratio's compared to the camaro's?

As long as it is a C1500 (or 2WD), then you don't have to swap the tailshaft.. You'd have to change over your extension housing (tailshaft housing) so you could mount your torque arm, but that is easy.. Pull the speedo out (one bolt), then 4 bolts mount the extension housing to the transmission case...
