Will Lokar Kickdown Kit fix my problem?
I have a carbed 350 and 700R4 in a 1992 RS that was previously 305 TBI. I've had this together now for about 6 months, and all has been fine thus far, shifted good, no tranny problems, and had a good geometry on the cable setup.
But I noticed yesterday that my factory TV cable doesn't want to properly stay in my throttle cable bracket. It's like the little plastic tabs that are supposed to spread out and keep it in place don't spread out enough, allowing the cable to justy slightly slip back out (towards the firewall), and thus change the shifting characteristics of my 700R4 from good to bad. I'm assuming this is from heat maybe, as it's a new (60 days old) cable. I have the nice beefy chrome Edelbrock throttle cable bracket, on a Performer RPM intake, and an Edelbrock 1406 carb.
I was looking at the Lokar cables, which are held in place and adjusted with stainless and aluminum parts, rather than this plastic factory crap. Can someone tell me about success or failure with the Lokar TV cables, special methods used to connect them to their throttle bracket or manifold, or any other useful info before I spend the money on this?
Or tell me about some other method of correcting my problem. I was also thinking about a spring clip to slide in there, like is on a shifter cable at the tranny cable bracket, to ensure the cable stays in place. Any thoughts appreciated.

Lokar is a good setup and geometry is fine with mine anyway but if your's is good just buy a new cable. gm replacement is around $26 I think cheaper than the lokar stuff around $120.
