corvette tranny?

I was just wondering what manual trannys the TPI corvettes used with their 350s. Since our cars didnt have manuals for 350s, I was wondering what the corvettes had. I'm assuming they had manuals. I can't see corvettes only being offered with auto trannys.

Thanks

From '89 until '96, the Corvettes used the S6-40 ZF 6 speed transmission.

Has anyone done, or heard of a
S6-40 swap into a 3rd gen?

From 1984 through 1988, the Corvette was available with a Doug Nash "4+3" transmission - a 4-speed manual coupled to an automatic overdrive on the top three gears. This unusual transmission was a synergy that allowed corvette to keep a stout 4 speed, but add an overdrive. As technology progressed, it was replaced by a modern ZF 6-speed manual.

The ZF is inferior to the T56 in almost all respects. It is harder to find, costs more to rebuild(by alot) and there is little to no aftermarket to beef it up, it is physically larger so it doesnt fit without "clearancing" the tunnel, and it's not any stronger(some people will say it's even weaker) than the T56.
