I think I know what is wrong just want a second opinion.

Set-up:

513 BBC
700R4 (lets just say not stock) Tranny - non-lockup
2800 Stall non-lockup
The "very wonderful car" (insert swear words there) doesn't want to shift out of first. This car is, how could I put this....REALLLYYYY loud and when my RPMs get to about 4500-5500 in first gear the cops tend to notice. Now, I think it is the TV cable. I think this because the braket is kinda messed up. I am attaching a picture...please take a look and see if that could be why it doesn't want to shift out of first. Reverse and every other gear work fine.

- It does go to 2nd, but only at rpm, or it never makes 2nd? Sounds to me like a governor issue. - The TV cable only has one proper adjustment which is full extension @ WOT.
- You should never change the TV cable to change shift points, changing weights/springs on the gov changes shift points.

Sorry I was in Michigan. Anyway, the car doesn't go into second with the cable hooked up and in drive. However, if I do the manual shift thing I can get it to go into second but only at about 4500ish RPMs/30 MPH. I have only did this once and I had to put it about half way to the floor from a 5 MPH roll. Once I hit about 4500 RPMs I let off the gas and put the shifter in second. It went. This is the info on the tranny.

Im going by memory so verify it first or search for trans posts under my name.

The TV cable requires a 1.25 arc of travel for proper operation.

Its already suspect in my eyes, as your cable is sagging, it shouldnt be like that.

U can destroy your trans in minutes with an improper TV cable so get it fixed.

Otherwise if no shift occurs I would point to the gov. If a TV cable breaks(had it happen) the gov will still force all shifts just at a high rpm and very hard only.
