How do I keep from killing my stock transmission?

I am about to install a stroker motor bored 60 over in my 92 camaro. It will be going from tbi to carb. What all do i need to do to keep from destroying my stock auto tranny until I can afford a beefed up T350? Any input would be appreciated.

I'm no tranny expert, but I would guess the obvious - just take it easy. And make sure you get the TV cable geometry correct!

Also, there may be nothing you can do - it may already be toast without you knowing it. My tranny seemed to shift fine with my 305 - but when I dropped in my 350 carbed, the slipping started from the first mash of the gas - so I had to remove and get a rebuild.

Thanks for the advice. I will be taking it easy on the tranny for sure. I was just wondering if there were any tips you guys had for me? I hear that TV cable geometry is a must. So i will be extra cautious with this. Any other tips guys? Keep them coming.

make sure you retain the lockup. add an aftermarket tranny cooler and install it in-line with the stock side tank. get a transgo shift kit( the one w/ the servo).

Remember detent cable geometry is more important than SN items above.

TPI 87 1/2 and later trans are the strongest in our cars.

Rebuild or acquire one to these specs or better at a minimum.

Rebuild it now before it breaks, it will be cheaper trust me.

Also verify TV cable pin length(at the TV plunger in the trans) as some were not the correct one the 90-92 years.

Trans GO kits are my shift improvement kit of choice.

later
