Another T-56 problem!

OK let's go over the history before we get to the question: 1991 Z28 from Florida, bought the car 2 years ago and have been working on it and haven't really driven it at all, cept for around the block a few times. The stock gauge cluster was screwy, the tach was off, the speedo was off and the fuel sensor was inoperable. So I got another used one and replaced it (this car had the T-56 in it from the pervious owners install) when I replaced the cluster the speedo doesn't work at all, but the tach reads fine, and I figured out the fuel level sensor is shot. But, how do I get the speedo to work again with the T-56? I hear talk about some kind of box, I haven't seen any box anywhere on or in the car? Can someone explain to me what I have to do, and if I need this box where I can get it? Thanks

Chris

the box your talking about is the dakota digital speedo calibration box. When you swap in the T56 you have to add the wiring for the speedo. I would start by going under the car and seeing if there is even anything plugged into the tranny, If there is see where the wire goes and trace it back from there. If it just eventualy hacks into the stock wiring it most likely doesnt have the box and needs it. The box should be indside the car somewhere that you can adjust it. Search some of the T56 swap stickies and you will find pictures of the tranny and what plug is for the speedo, and what the box looks like.
