gear compatable?
I had purchased 4:10 gears for my 97 camaro ss(now sold) and was wondering if they would work in my 1989 formula firebird. Any help is appreciated.

yep, should work.
Need to have a 3 series posi carrier though, which you probably don't have now, and I think the 4.10's wouldn't be ideal for a TPI motor either.

Which after market carrier would you recommend? This car is just my beat on car, is that why you were saying it was'nt ideal for this car?

lots of different carriers, auburn, eaton, etc etc.
The 4.10 gears are really steep, the TPI motor likes to make low end power, that complements each other, sort of. You end up running out of your powerband way too soon.
4.10 gears are good for a motor that makes little low end, and lots of top end.
3.23 gears are better for a motor that makes lots of low end, but not much top end (like yours).
