Tranny Support Thread Size?

Didn't see in any previous posts the size of the bolt that holds the tranny cross-support to the frame. I've been told M8 coarse and M10 w/ 15mm head. I'm sure one of them is correct, but because I believe there has been some cross-threading, I'd like to know the exact size before I tap it out.

Sorry to bother with such a seemingly small question, but it would help me out tremendously.

funny you didn't find another post about it, there's one in the tech/general engine forum right now.

I searched on this before and found numerous threads... tsk tsk!

anyway, I believe it's M10 coarse, flanged head M15 A/F. Something like 30mm long.
Chances are the reason you're asking this, is related to the fact that this bolt size won't work for you any more. I might recommend trying to tap it to 7/16" NC, or drop a bolt in from above, so the threads hang down. This is what i've got, works like a charm.

I saw the one on the tech/engine message board, in fact, I started it. But I will admit to having done a weak search, I just scrolled through the transmission and drivetrain board and didn't see anything. I thought it to be such a small issue that no one else would have had the problem. Seems I was wrong.

The reason I came into this board was at the suggestion from the tech/engine post. There was some uncertainty (as I'm sure you saw) and I appreciate your clarification on the issue.

I am going to try and tap the hole at the correct size and see what happens, if I can't get enough bite, I will jump up a size.

Thanks again for your help.

haha, so telling you to search, and find your very own thread, probably didn't help eh?

yea, reason that *may* not work, is there's a very soft metal insert in the frame. Chances are, the reason you have the problem is that the threads pulled out of that "cheese" material. So you may not have any material left to re-tap. Anyway, you'll find out soon enough.
