T-56 Clutch

I recently installed my carbed 355 w/ a T56 out of a 94 trans am. I haven't drove the car or started it yet, but I did notice the pedal travel is less than what I am used to on some other cars I have driven. The hydraulics are stock, untouched. The flywheel is stock, minor resurfacing. The clutch I am running it the Centerforce Dual Friction. For all I know this might be fine.

My question is, what type of clutches are you guys running in your 6 speeds? How do you like the performance? And how is your pedal travel?

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
I have the same clutch, with 3rd gen pedals.

As I've posted many times, the 4th gen hydraulics are designed for a shorter movement of the stud on the pedal than 3rd gen ones. The 3rd gen pedal moves the 4th gen master cyl too much. Therefore, the WHOLE clutch travel is all WAY UP at the top of the pedal travel; and the pedal is stiffer than it would be in a 4th gen setup. You could probably set it just right, if you relocated the stud about ¾" or so higher, closer to the pivot, on the pedal.

That's EXACTLY how mine works. The clutch is entirely released by the time the pedal makes it about 2/3 of the way down. And, it's a bit stiffer than a stock T-5 clutch setup.

But other than that, it works fine.

Sounds good. I am using the pedals out of 94 Z28. I don't kow if this makes a difference.

I recently built and installed a T56 in my LT1 fourthgen (fencoe stock replacement clutch, pressure plate, and .010" machined off of the flywheel). I'd never had any experience with the fourthgen hydraulics before then and was shocked at how little clutch pedal travel there was. However, everything works perfectly. The clutch doesn't disengage until very near the bottom of the pedal travel though--something that took a bit of getting used to. After the first 5000 miles, the take-up point has moved upward slightly and it's a pleasure to drive. I must agree that the pedal is definitely stiffer than some.

...In other words, your pedal travel sounds perfectly normal.
