Well, although I finally will be pulling my WcT5 this winter for a rebuild (I've been planning this for over a year, just to find the time.... ), I was wondering if you guys could give your 2cents regarding my shifter problem. I am using a pro 5.0, all the "stops" are adjusted correctly, the shifter has less than 500miles on it, and the handle is tight. The trans thou could be in the 60-70k range since its last rebuild (if not more) I didn't rebuild it so I am not sure when it was done.
The problem:
When in motion the shifter 'wobbles' left to right when in gear, enough to make an audible rattle. The shifter shifs into all gears with no problems (even tho the reverse syncro is starting to go), but it's almost to the point of being described as a sloppy shifter - like a worn out stocker.. When not in motion the shifter can be easily wobbled left to right while in the nutral position. ie; before the shifter is moved over to the left to engage 1rst for example (I hope this makes sense)
Could the plastic bushing in the shift finger be wearing out, or the shift finger itself...? Or is it the shift forks/wear pads on the shift forks that are causing this...
I am curious to know. I am not a trans expert so any insight would be appreciated.

is the tension adjusted properly? my billet plus has screws and springs that adjust the side to side tension. turing them out will make it loose like what you have, and tightening them up really makes it stiff.

randy,
I'm not clear as what you mean by tension. - Tension in the shifter base? In the pro 5.0 design there are no springs in the base to adjust. Or am I missing something here?
-Thanks

when you take the boot that covers the base where the stick goes into the base, on my hurst there are 4 screws 2 on each side, that control side to side tension. dunno about your pro 5.0 but if you bought it new id look in the manual and see if they say anything about it. i know it says it in the hurst manual about tightening them down for a stiffer side to side motion, and loosing them for a looser feel side to side.

also, is the car vibrating while your shifter is doing this. could be a driveline vibration thats causing the shifter to wobble

Ok Randy,
I will look through the manual/insturctions that came with the shifter.... for tension adjustment.
