D&D Performance T56
I posted a thread a little while ago with a console question. My shifter was hitting the console in 1st 3rd 5th and REV. Come to find out the tranny they sent me was the D&D Performance Viper/GM retro fit unit. Anyone have this tranny and could you adivse me on a better shifter for the transmission?
If you go with a Hurst or something like that, they have a stub that sticks up with two bolt holes to mount the shifter stick. You can choose from a bunch of different sticks to find one with the right curvature for your problem. Or you can also make a spacer bracket out of flat bar stock with two sets of holes drilled in it so you can move the shifter stick back a little. I bought a Tremec TKO for my thirdgen, and the previous owner made a bracket like this for the shifter stick so that it's centered in the console opening, as it had the same problem of hitting in all the forward shifts.

Thats a great idea. I thought about making a stick but it think i'll first search and see whats out there in the aftermarket world. I will look into making a bracket and lay the stick back. I just got an email from D&D Performance and they told me that the shifter installed on my tranny has the bolt pattern for the stick thats the same as one from a t-5 mustang.
If I remember right, Modern Drivetrain's website has a bunch of info and part numbers for different Hurst sticks you can buy to fit your particular application. Check out their site and see if you can come up with one that'll work.

Thanks for your help on the subject. I am going to visit the web site and check out the sticks. I took your advise on making a spacer plate and once I find a stick I like I'll be in business.
No problem, glad I could help you out. For the kind of cash you spent on a trans like that, it'd be a shame to let something as minor as the shifter stick hold you up from getting that bad boy in!

Get a Pro-5.0 shifter and your issues should go away. Mine did the same until I put one in. Works awesome as well!
