I am looking into getting a B&M console shifter for my 89 RS. Can anyone give me the lowdown on what i am looking at for how easy it is to install. and if i will need to modify anything? and is it a rachet action shifter. I herd someone ask me that.

 

I have one in my 89 Firebird not sure how similar your Camaro will be. I had to cut the shifter plate in the console to use the shifter plate that comes with the shifter. Had to drill 2 holes in floorboard to bolt the front of the shifter down the back uses the same holes as stock shifter. Had to lengthen the wires for backup lights to hook to new shifter. These shifters come with very detailed instructions and templates for what you need to cut. Not a real bad job.
