aftermaket tremec tko tans
You have to use the Ford C6 style 31 spline slip yoke to fit the tremec trans and the proper adapter u-joint to mate it up to your factory driveshaft. The u-joint is 1330 size on one cross and 1310 on the other cross. As far as length is concerned, everything I've read about the swap says the stock length works fine. When you buy a brand new TKO, most places include the slip yoke with the trans. Mike Forte sells the correct adapter u-joint too.
Personally, I'd go with a TKO anyday versus a Richmond 5 speed. The TKO is actually an overdrive transmission with 5th gear being either .68(TKO 500) or .64(TKO 600). The Richmond 5 speed is no different than an old school 4 speed trans since 5th gear is 1:1. Plus you'd need a longer driveshaft since the Richmond is the same length as a Muncie or TH350. The GM spec TKO also comes with a 26 spline input shaft so you can use the same clutch/bellhousing setup as the factory V8 T5 thirdgens.
