On the 82-84 cars the original crossmember is different. I had to drill and tap a new hole for one of the bolts. 3 out of the 4 lined up though.

On a 83 isn't the torque arm mount different??? I have a crossmember for that car if your interested. I just pulled a T-5 with manual clutch and the whole 9 yards out of a 83 T/A.

I'm not quite sure why you're saying you need a whole new tranny. The world class T5 is no different than the non-wc ones as far as the bellhousing is concerned. There were only two different bellhousings. The early one for mechanical clutch linkage (82-83), and the later one for hydraulic clutch linkage (84-92). Either one will work with both the WC and Non-WC units, as long as it's the V8 bellhousing and not the V6 one. Both of the correct bellhousings mount the tranny tilted towards the driver's side of the car instead of straight up. If you have an old style bellhousing that mounts the trans straight up instead of tilted, that's your problem.

Send a PM to Transformula87. He had one for sale in the classifieds here for $45 shipped, which is dirt cheap for a T5 bellhousing. They go for twice that easily on ebay. It was last posted on 12/13/06 in the engine/drivetrain parts for sale section.
