T-56 6spd for drifting good/bad?
Hey guys I have a 1982 Berlinetta with a turbo 350 in her. Well in the near futior im installing a T-56 6spd and I wanted to know if there any good for drifting. Would it need anything to help it withstand the on and off power that come with drifting?
I'm using one with a Spec stage 3 clutch and its working great for drifting, was out there this past weekend in fact. I'm not sure how it would work out with a stock clutch but I know with that clutch it works great, clutch grabs hard, clutch kicks are effective.

If you want to beat a clutch and never have to worry about it any twin disk should do. No matter what i throw at mine it never starts slipping, itll get more chatter but never stops grabbing. This should just be a question of what is strong enough to drift with, but T56s are pretty strong just they can and do break like everything else, if you were thinking T5 - definently think T56 instead.

t56 is probably your best choice...
the clutch shocks you may give it to break the tires loose will eventually grenade a T5..... and using autos for drifting kinda sucks....

Well, its all relative to the contact patch right? Smaller contact patch and you don't need alot of power. But after drifting with a manual transmission (T56) and comparing to automatic (TH350), I gotta say the manual is much much better. Its harder, but way more fun. You can do stuff you just can't do with an automatic. The only advantage I can think of about the T5 vs the T56 is the weight, what is it a 45-50 pound difference or something? So if the T5 was built w/ stronger gears and case that might be a winner. If it was stock I'd expect it to break. But hey either way, T56 or T5, its gonna be more fun than auto.

really, the main problem is the weak case.... when that flexes, everything its holding moves... and then things break.
