t56 t stud
hey guys, I need a little help here. I've got a 90 model gta I'm doing a 6 speed swap into and I can't seem to find the t stud I need. I bought a new clutch fork and bolt from the dealer but they can't seem to get the t stud or pivot that the fork rides on. The counter man says the parts I have are all that's listed. Can anybody help me? The tranny by the way is a 95 so that's what year I got the fork for. Also I have a set of pedals from an 89 gta and the hydraulics as well. My understanding is that the pedals will work but the hydraulic line will be to short. Can I simply replace the line with a custom high pressure line? I have a local place that makes lines up to 20000 psi. I'd sure appreciate any help I can get

The 3rdgen hydraulics will work, except that the line from the master to the slave is too short. You can take the plastic line off and have a hose made using the stock end fittings. I would advise using braided stainless hose. That's what the 4th gen cars had, it's as good as it gets for durability, and it won't swell under pressure which makes for better clutch feel.
The clutch fork pivot is unfortunately not listed seperately. The only way I know of to get one from the dealer is to buy a whole transmission. Bad news I know. The good news is there should be a few floating around. The guys who choose to use a conversion bellhousing and keep the 3rdgen style clutch can't use the stock T56 pivot. Somebody may have one in a drawer somewhere. You'll just have to post up and ask.
Hope it helps.

thanks for the reply. I found a place today www.autogear.net that had the pivot for $0.51 and the fork for $30.66. I have a place that can make a line no problem but do the third gen hydraulics have a way to bleed them? I would think they would have to but some responces I got to this question before made it sound like you couldn't bleed them.

The T5 slave cylinder has an allen-plug bleeder valve, the LT1-style slave has no bleeder at all. You don't really need one. All you have to do is hold the slave with the rod pointed down, and slowly pump the rod in and out for a few minutes. This will push the air in the system upward and pull fluid back down in it's place. IIRC this is the actual procedure for bleeding the clutch in an LT1 car.
Good find on the pivot.

Well I got my parts today and there was a problem. The catalog no. was the wrong part. I still was able to get the pivot but it cost a little over ten bucks.
The part I got for 51 cents was the bolt that holds the pivot to the case. I still got a better deal than from the stealership as they charged me almost nine for the bolt. I'll be returning that baby and thier overpriced fork monday.
