Any way to tell an upgraded convertor?
I'm just wondering if there is anyway to tell, because when I do a powerbrake it holds right around 2500rpm before the tires start to break loose. I never noticed it till a few months ago. I've had the car for about a year and a half now and I was just wondering. It launches great if I have traction when I do that. Also it stopped lockingup in 4th gear but I added a cooler and the trans still runs ok. Any input?

not really unless theres some numbers or a sticker label on it, but even then you may not be able to know anything or much
rpm at which it breaks loose wont tell you much, because it really depends on axle ratio and tire height and the first gear ratio and how well the tires grip, etc, each vehicle will break at a different RPM do to these and many other factors
good luck

More then likely that is an after market converter since most stock ones dont normally stall that high..... To tell what kind of true stall you have you should flash the converter and see what rpms you pull. Flashing is having the car at an idle then quickly stomping on it from a dead stop and seeing where the converter slips to. Rear axle ratio has no effect on a converters stall when power braking.
