torque converter question

i installed a converter in my th350, i did the spin thing and it dropped in the trans twice. to make sure it was seated i pulled the converter back a little and pushed it in and is sounded solid like it was seated all the way in the pump. i put the trans back up, making sure the converter spun while bolting it in and there is no clearance between the flywheel and converter but the converter spins freely??? is this good?? will it hurt anything??

yeah it will spin freely, thats how they are

after youve installed so many you just know when you have it in all the way or not, second nature
its a special kind of lift spin wiggle push to get them in all the way, once you know how you always do

usually there is always a good amount of gap between the flexplate and converter, you might want to make sure its installed all the way, all the ones ive ever had have always had enough gap inbetween them to fit at least a couple washers inbetween them easily, if not more than two

good luck

i'd pull it and spin it some more, going both ways and wiggling up and down just to be safe, I usually can tell when it drops in since you can't see a gap around the converter and the bellhousing anymore

well then crank the motor over and if it pumps fluid out one of the lines if they're disconnected then you're good to go
