Where to place tranny temp sensor?

I bought a B&M transmission temperature gauge for my 700R4. I'm wondering where the sensor should be installed- I believe it's 1/8" NPT. I have aftermarket flexible lines to my cooler so installing a T fitting would be very easy, but I don't know if adding more hose clamps is the best idea. I have the stock pan, is it worth installing a fitting? What would be the best way to do this?

What did you use to mount it (since there's no stock fitting)?

Put it in the return line (top line), this will give you the best results in that you will see how well your cooling system is doing.

I'm not familiar with the pressure in the lines or anything which is why I ask this:
I have a B&M cooler which has hose clamps keeping the lines on tight, would cutting the line and hose clamping a T-fitting in be a secure way to do it? I'm really concerned with the thought of hacking my hoses or causing any reliability issues.
