Auto Or Manual
if you had a car with the same engine and horse power pretty much exact same thing except one had a manual and one had a stall converter and shift kit how would the race go?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Depends on the drivers.
Typically the manual car will put more power to the wheels. But there's more to racing, than just THAT. Hooking it up, and getting it consistent, is at least as important.
It's possible however, depending on the converter, to get QUITE A BIT more power to the wheels with an auto. Then you're right back to hookup again.

If your into drag racing a lot, go with a stalled auto. If you want to just race every so often, and want to have fun driving around town, I'd go with the manual.

how much power, and how much racing? dedicated drag racing with more than 450 hp ==> auto. just too much to lose from a missed shift. if you're asking who would win. evenly matched cars... i say driver is the deciding factor.

I agree it's a judgement call I have raced friends with simmilar cars stick to auto and depending on the driver it's a toss up, but what you have to consider with a 3rd gen car is the factory stick trans SUCKS.. T-5s aren't going to live with any kind of HP and swapping in a different trans (stick) is expensive and a pain at best, if you plan on racing even occasionaly a TH-350 swap is the most economical and will allow ample HP and easy fitment without the expense of rebuilding a 700r4 ..
