Ok I know nothing of transmissions that are available. As I am thinking of doing a Pontiac 400 Swap, I would like to change my transmission. I am thinking I want either a 6 Speed Manual, or a 5 speed auto (is there a 6 speed?) I just need to knwo whats compatible, I want it to be able to deal with a considerable amount of power lets say 600-700 hp/ft-lbs of torque

 

well to start with you'd need a BOP bell to fit the new trans on one end and the 400 pontiac on the other and i'll bet there aren't any. it'd be alot easieer if you gave up on pontiac and went with a SBC.

 

or scratch the 5 or 6 speed idea

why ppl like to have to shift so many gears all the time is beyond me


even 4 gears is way more than i like ot have to shift all the time


shifting is annoying

but i like the 4 pseeds in my trucks

but not in a daily driver car

the 400 swap is a great idea, id love to find and put on in my 82

i found an oldsmobile 350 and tranny for 250 bucks im really thinkg about getting, but its no poncho..

hmmm...

still debating on it anyways

would be simple to put in other than exhaust work
