You'll have to pull the trans out of course, but the seal should be pretty easy to change. You have to remove the bearing retainer (4 bolts), and the seal is pressed into the backside of it where the input shaft goes through. Should be able to just pop it out with a screwdriver and tap the new one in with the right size socket to drive it in. Make sure to use some rtv on the bearing retainer before you put it back on the case too. I'd get a new clutch disc too while you're at it. It's probably no good now that it's oil soaked and slipping.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
I'd bet money it's not the seal. Reason being, the fluid isn't up that high.
I'd bet it's the countergear bearing, which is the big round thing near the bottom pass side of the front of the trans case. It fits into the case. It's supposed to seal in the case.
If it leaks, it's because the case is distorted. That's the usual failure mode of a T-5. If that's what it is, the transmission is toast, and NO AMOUNT of rebuilding or changing seals or whatever else, will ever make it right again. The metal of the case casting is stretched, and the hole that the bearing goes in is now an oval instead of a circle.
A sure sign of this is if you see any evidence that the bearing has been spinning in the case.
If that's what's wrong with it, throw it in the garbage and get another one, whose CG bearing still fits tight in the case.

Hey Sofa, I was thinking the same thing, but if the countergear bearing bore is leaking, is it possible for it to end up on the clutch disc? You wouldn't think so with that part of the trans sitting against the face of the bellhousing. I've had the countershaft pin bore on a couple of my muncies leak, but it never ended up getting on the clutch assembly. These days I clean up the pin bore with brake parts cleaner and cover the end of the pin completely with rtv. The new muncie super case that Auto Gear makes is nice because they machined the pin bore for a soft plug to prevent this. Of course you can't remedy that particular problem on a T5 the same way.
