Suggestions before replacing 700R4
Okay so I have a 91 formula, the 3-4 clutch pack is blown in it's current 700r4, i bought a new used 700r4 for it. The weather may be getting better soon so I will start the swap, but while the replacement trans is out of the car, is there anything you suggest i do with it to perhaps clean it up or make it last longer or prepare it so its nice and ready for when i put it in? Also a few more questions:
I bought a new gasket and filter for it already(yes the black rubber gaskets not the cork ones) Do you recommend using any kind of gasket sealer or should I just scrape all the old gasket off with a scraper and put it on clean?
Will leaving the trans unlubricated damage anything over time if the trans is just sitting?
Also, I don't have a torque wrench so I wish i knew how tight I had the pan bolts, really dont want any leaks.
I am taking the governor off the old transmission since its a new one, also a new governor cap, along with the spedo gear.
The guy who sold me the trans, gave me two torque converters because he had no use for them, i haven't looked at what they are but i now will have three torque converters and what should I go by to choose which one i should put in the car?

hey-
i changed the fluid in mine a few months ago
roughly a gallon and a galf =]
around 11 or so quarts i think
if you have the original owners manual, itll say in the back
i cant find mine =X
----------
oh yeah, for the other questions
i didnt use a gasket sealer, and mine hasnt leaked at all since
i just spread an even coat of the trans fluid on the gasket then put it in place
i cant say anything about tightening without the torque wrench, see if a friend has one and if not, tighten it hand tight id say but dont take my word on it
and about any damage sitting, i dont think so =]
hope that helps!
