Stock Posi ????????

Ok guys clue me in on how the stock GM Posi works...Im not sure if mine is wore out, or is doing what it is supposed to......Will the drivers side tire spin everytime you floor it, or does it only do it sometimes???? I know that is a weird question, but on my Dodge both tires tuened no matter what...On my 89 Camaro on a slick road the car will fishtail slightly meaning both tires break lose, but say on cement only the passenger side turns...The car does launch quicker than it did with the single track...So I wonder is my posi unit wore out, or is that what it is supposed to do??? Also, how do you go about rebuilding the stock unit???? Thanks for any insight into this, Tom

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
is my posi unit wore out
Probably, if it even is a posi. Unless you put it there yourself, and you know for sure it's a posi, it isn't.
how do you go about rebuilding the stock unit?
You throw it in the garbage and get something better. Last time I called Auburn, which is who made yours unless it's an Eaton Gov-Lock in which case it's garbage regardless, when I looking for a clutch kit for a MUCH newer one (about a 96 or 97 stock one), they had already discontinued them. There might be some floating around out there somwehere, but I kind of doubt it.
