I was wondering if anyone has ever tried adding a clutch ring to the 3rd gear clutch pack? A friend of mine told me to try this. Anyone else ever heard of doing this?

 

I guess i am the first to hear of this. I am scared to try it without anybody else having done it.

 

actually, it is acommon upgrade. just have to make sure the endplay is in specs. lots of parts companies carry aftermarket clutch packs with extra clutches designed into them. i have the raybestos z-pac. there are also a couple of other brands that have a similar set-up as well.

 

Thanks for the reply, I will look more into this the next rebuild. I went back stock just seemed like there should be less gap. But hey its back together and working fine, so all is good.
