Kickdown Cable on Turbo 350
I have a Turbo 350 in my 86 camaro and I want to be able to get right on it in 3rd and not have it downshift. If I disconnect my kickdown cable will this do anything catastrophic to my transmission? Thanks, Johnny

It wont hurt it.
Unlike the 700R4/4l60, ect... which use a TV cable to adjust shift points and line pressures according to throttle position, the th350/400s use a detent cable for downshifting only.

Ok, yea I know from personal experience what not having the cable hooked up on a 700r4 will do..Just didn't want the same thing to happen to this one. Thanks for the info

No, is only there for triggering kickdowns on the Th350/th400s.
On the 200-4r and 700r4 trannys it increases line pressure with throttle amongst other things. That is why they burn up so easy with it disconnected, no pressure + high hp = goodbye tranny!
