questions about installing hurst 1/4 stick

i just got alot of parts for my manual to automatic swap. i decided to go with the hurst quarter stick shifter, and im glad i did. its a real nice shifter. i have a couple of questions about it. i did a search but i couldnt find the answers. my car was originaly a manual trans. so i dont have any wires run for a neutral safety switch. can i just extend the wire that go to the clutch switch(the one on the pedal that wont allow you to start the engine unless the pedal is fully depressed) and use that as my wiring for the neutral safety switch. would that work or am i way off. i fabbed up a patch panel for the floor and welded that in. how do i fiqure out were the shifter goes. do i just do it by eye and make a new console plate. and my last question is where was the factory hole for the shifter cable. i dont really know where to drill the hole. any help would be great.

Yes, you can use the wires from the clutch switch for the neutral safety switch. It would probably be easiest to mount the shifter where you like it and make a new console top for it. In factory automatic cars, the shift cable went through a grommet in a large hole just forward of the shifter.
